HOW WE FARM OUR FAMOUS SALTWATER BARRAMUNDI

There’s up to 90 tonne of barramundi in the earthen ponds at Daintree Saltwater Barramundi Farm on any given day and we harvest around 120 tonne annually. We purchase the finest fingerlings available from local hatcheries, to ensure the highest quality stock. We buy them in lots of 12,000 measuring around 10cm.

We complete daily checks on all ponds at Daintree Saltwater Barramundi Farm, checking fish size, health and water quality. When they reach commercial size (plate size) they are hand-harvested to order. It’s during this process that we sometimes discover rare Albino, Speckled (Panda) and even Gold Barramundi. We save these beauties, so you can see them in our special viewing tank when you visit Hook-A-Barra.
