Our mission at Daintree Saltwater Barramundi Farm is ‘better fish for a better world’ and it’s something we’ve been passionate about for our 18 years of operation. We’re an Australian company, managed by long-time local Mark Hober (aka Farmer Mark) who grew up fishing Barramundi (and more) in the Daintree River. Don’t tell him we told you, but he’s a giant in the industry, respected for his leadership in innovation, management, sustainability and best practice.

Our 49 hectare farm is perfectly positioned beside the Daintree River, sandwiched between the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest, Great Barrier Reef and the Coral Sea. We grow our fish in over 3 hectares of earthen ponds filled with saltwater from the Daintree River and replicating the natural habitat of the Barramundi. We start with 10cm long hand-selected fingerlings from local hatcheries and over 12 to 18 months we grow them to commercial size.

Daintree Saltwater Barramundi Farm is legendary for its first class fish and has won 20 Gold, Silver and Bronze medals at the prestigious Sydney Royal Fine Food Show over the last 10 years, including 12 Golds and 5 Championships. What makes us the best? Our innovative practises, sustainable operations, quality stock, world class facilities and experienced, professional team, which all come together to deliver world class eating fish.

We’re very proud of our farm and our fish. Rearing our Barramundi in free range conditions, in water from the Daintree River, replicating their natural environment. Strict quality and production controls ensure world class produce, which we share with restaurants, cafes and families around our region, state, country and beyond.
