My children and I had an incredible experience! The staff were exceptionally helpful and shared a wealth of knowledge about barramundi. The food was both fresh and delicious. I highly recommend taking the time, especially if you enjoy fishing; it's truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I rate it 11 out of 10! Keep up the fantastic work, team! 👏

Absolutely the best fishing experience, the tour with Michael was worth it. Learnt lots of new things. The fishing was so fun! The fish was so strong which is the best feeling when you pull out the fish. The staff members were so kind and helpful, thank you.

What an amazing experience. I have hooked a number of Barra in my lifetime but this was certainly a great experience for me and my son. The staff were absolute amazing and couldn’t be any more helpful. We all had such a great time and would highly recommend for anyone.

Fantastic experience!! Hook a Barra came strongly recommended by a family member and it did not disappoint.My 5 year old son is fishing mad!!!!We haven’t hooked a lot on our adventures at home and visiting hook a Barra was the cure!!My 5 year old landed a monster on his second cast!3 more followed shortly after.The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and even fish in parallel, and when hooked they called my 5 year old over so he could reel them in!Highly recommend this place to anyone keen on fishing and anyone keen to catch this magnificent sporting fish.We also purchased one of our catches for such a good price. Cheap and freshest, great tasting barra we have ever had

This was by far the best thing we did on our Port Douglas holiday. Steve was amazing with our girls. They let us go well and truly over our fishing time and we all wanted to go back! Even if you hate being outdoors, this is something you HAVE to do!

Even though I'm not a keen fisher(woman), I thought I'd give this a go and I had an absolute blast! It was so much fun catching such big fish which we all know are pretty hard to catch in the wild. The staff are super helpful & friendly and you're pretty much guaranteed to catch a few! I can highly recommend this if you're looking for a different kind of adventure. The fish & chips from the cafe are amazing too! Overall a great experience. I'll be coming back with the family! Thanks guys

What a great day, Aaron and the boys made our experience better then we could have expected. We attended twice in our holiday and the Saturday was pouring rain but still had a blast. The young fellas having issues with there rain jackets 🤣 our bellies hurt from laughing, you's were hilarious. This place is a must visit while in Cairns!

What an amazing experience! We had the best time, absolutely worthwhile! The team at hook-a-Barra were sensational - we were looked after by Amos who really made our time there great, he took the time to explain everything to us and even hooked a fish and gave the rod to me when it looked like I wasn’t going to catch anything! I’m sure the rest of the team are just as wonderful as Amos is. Great experience, absolutely recommend!!

Could not wish for a better experience. The whole family had an amazing time, staff were extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, and they made the experience so wonderful. They really could not do enough for us. We all caught several beautiful barramundi and even had the tastiest lunch when we finished. We’ll definitely be back

Visited today 6.3.24. What an amazing experience & day my partner & I had. Steve was exceptional and gave us tips & helped with my first catch (thanks mate). Then after learning a little more (as I hadn’t fished for some years) I caught another two. The guys there are experienced, helpful, and down to earth. You can purchase per kg if you wish to take home or simply the joy of catch & release which we did.Lunch of course was fish & chips & never had I tasted Barra like it. Melt in the mouth & of course delicious (so kudos to the Chef as well). If you are looking for a great fishing adventure then Hook-A-Barra is one destination you can’t miss! Thank you guys. J & S ❤️

We had some delicious fish and chips the spring rolls were scrumptious too!Chicken salt went really well with the chips and the fish was soooo fresh and soft.Even had vegetarian/ gluten free options <3No photos of food due to us being so hungry and it was too good to stop for photos.The place was overall very interesting. seemed to be a fishing place and restaurant at the same timeStaff members were the coolest guys ever!!Very friendly and they even let us hold and take a photo with the fish :)Thank you so much guys

What a fantastic way to spend a morning! Steve and Adam were so helpful & informative. We followed up our fishing with a delicious lunch - the barra burger, tacos, spring rolls & tasting platter were all top notch.Highly recommend this experience to all!

Fantastic. We got held up on our way travelling up for our booked time slot at Hook A Barra and the staff ould not have been more generous and accomodating with allowing us to stay outside of session hours to make up for it. We are a keen fishing family of 2 adults and 4 kids ranging from 6 -12 years and have had plenty to do with Barra but were pleasantly surprised at the new things we learnt. To be able to land barra yourselves at the same time as the kids are fishing and not have to stress about crocs is truly a wonderful thing!!!!!!! Highly recommend!!!!

We had a great morning at hook-a- barra and were well looked after by the team. Great family activity and a must if you want to hook that elusive Barramundi. Biggest was caught by the young fella at 93cm.The team are very knowledgeable with a shout out to Price for his informative farm tour.We will be back up with friendsHad another great visit to hook a barra over the weekend. The team was again very helpful, and my son managed to land a 99cm fish with the help of the team.It was great to see the place back firing after the floods.Thanks again

It was our our sons first time fishing so he needed ample assistance and constant reassurance. Bailey explained and encouraged him. At the end of a long session he finally managed to cast resulting in him catching 5 fish and three were photo worthy.Bailey made the extra effort rarely seen in customer service which was much appreciated.

This was our first visit to Hook-a-burra and our family loved it. My kids were inexperienced anglers but the staff went above and beyond assisting them with landing a heap of big barra. All the staff seemed to genuinely love their job and were super friendly. We then treated ourselves to a barra smorgasbord. Burgers, battered and sashimi. All top notch.The venue has bounced backed well from the flood so dont let that put you off. We also took a barra home which fed our family of 10. I asked my kids the best part of their 10 day trip to Port Douglas and they were unamious in their vote for Hook-a-burra.

This was our 3rd visit here and it didnt let us down. The boys there made it an awesome few hours, and my wife Nat caught her first ever fish and it was a great Barra with lots of help from the staff.. To the boys there, thank you for making Nats day, and to the guy that owns the camper van, cant remember his name, Thank you mate for making her day awesome. Simply amazing!!!! 10 out of 5, best fishing I have ever done. Throw your lure in a bring in a catch. Test yourself in the Trophy Lake which is needed or you will simply bring in too many fish and you lose the challenge. STaff were amazing and accomodating. Simply the best a must from now on versus the charters.

We loved our morning at Hook-A-Barra. Amos, Micheal and Pricey were brilliant with the kids and we all caught something, much to the kids’ delight. Thoroughly recommend if you want something fun and family-friendly on your trip to Port Douglas and/or Mossman.

Had a great time here and caught a few barra. Jake was out at the ponds with my family and was super helpful and passionate. He helped us all get the barra up and took pics for us. Highly recommend this place if you are keen on catching this trophy fish!

Absolutely brilliant!!!! Being honest, this wasn't high on my list of activities to do since I am not keen on fishing but oh my goodness!!! This is freaking awesome!!!!Steve was our guide, knowledgeable and so fun, lots of pretty awesome dad jokes that we laughed at for the rest of the day!All the tips and tricks he gave us, along with encouragement and fun, just made the day unreal!Wear sunscreen for sure and long sleeves if you can, sunglasses and a hat. You'll be able to keep enjoying the day without worrying about the sun!Sadly we didn't have time for food but we heard others say very good things around us!

This was a great place to experience fishing without going to the ocean. We learnt about the mighty Barra. Tried to catch one and release it back. We had a great time. Adam our crew/guide was awesome and we caught a couple and had a great day. Lunch was good there also

We absolutely loved Hook a BarraIt was informative in a fun way with facts that surprise you.Steve and the team were so helpful.Our group of 4 ranged from one that had never ever fished in her life up to quite experienced fishermen but each of us had a great time and loved every minute.When we left we all said to each other we will definitely come back next time we’re in FNQHook-a-Barra has us hooked and without a doubt this was one of the best things we did on our amazing holiday.Thanks to the guysCan’t wait to return !!!

Very memorable part of our North Qld holiday. What to say - fantastic staff that you could see love what they do, great fishing with massive sized barra ready to take a lure and the fresh delicious lunch that was cooked perfectly. Kids and I caught heaps of barra. Kids never fished before, so a great way to get their first experience in fishing. The crew were more than helpful, accommodating and made our time here more than worth it. Will be back on our next trip. Must do if you can. Thanks guys. Top notch!

We went for our son’s 40th birthday as he’s always wanted to catch a Barra. He, his wife and I each caught two 50+cm Barra. The farm tour, fishing and lunch were fantastic as were all of the staff. We had the best day and highly recommend all to visit here.

After yesterday's magic experience we decided to drop in for lunch and a show, watching visitors fish the trophy lake. Amos cooked up some wicked fish and chips. Fish (barra) was super succulent! Lisa's huge fish, landed the day before, prompted another tilt at a monster from the trophy lake. I managed a few hits on the soft plastics before Amos cast in a handful of feed pellets. It was one trophy after another for the rest of the session. I take my hat off to Michael, Illian, and Amos for their assistance handling the fish and providing great encouragement. As ever, the biggest fish got away at the last moment. Catching barra on fly was also a stunning experience. I recommend this experience to anyone!

Leigh and the crew are super friendly, approachable and want to make sure your fishing experience is one to remember. But it’s not just about the fishing. To fully immerse oneself in the adventure book the fishing and farm combo. Leigh takes you on a journey of the farm which is informative and interesting. See, feed & catch is worth every cent. What an amazing experience! We arrived right on 10.30 and were moved quickly into the induction. The guides were informative and helpful and so friendly. Had an absolutely wonderful time today at Hook a Barra. Caught 3 barramundi and hubby caught 2! Steve and his team are so professional and helped us out, teaching adults and kids how to catch this great fish. We ordered lunch there after our fishing and the grilled fish and salad I had was to die for - melt in your mouth delicious! Hubby had the Barra Burger which was equally delicious. Fantastic experience. Steve and the boys will put you onto some beaut barras! Whether it be fly, soft bait or poppers, there are plenty of options on hand to choose from. Absolute best day. Everyone there was so helpful with our kids (5&7) and we enjoyed it just as much as they did. Big shout out to Elian for the amazing teaching of the kids, we were blown away! Had an awesome time at the barra farm. The staff were super friendly and the food was surprisingly good. Had the share plate with barra done 3 different ways and it was absolutely delicious. Caught my first big barra (92cm) but maybe it was the chef kissing my lure that made all the difference, lol. All in all I would highly recommend visiting the barra farm if you love fishing and or want to do something different.

A brilliant day out. I loved their care for the fish and the environment. Not only was it fun fishing with a guaranteed catch but also very educational. We had the lunch/transfer package and the food was Devine. A huge thanks to Adam for sharing in his extensive knowledge of the local area/rainforest, and of course fishing, he made it a complete experience. I would highly recommend this excursion to all. And if you can… ask for Adam.
