We had a wonderful experience at Hook a Barra. The introduction was very informative and our guide Aidan was very helpful showing us the technique to land a Barramundi. The staff were very accommodating with my elderly mobile impaired dad also.

My husband and I did the farm tour and throughly enjoyed the experience. Our guide was very informative and answered all our questions. We were lucky enough to be there when they were harvesting which was interesting to see. We also had a beautiful lunch where we had Barra prepared 3 ways for us to try.We both caught a couple of barra each and had an absolute blast. Thanks guys for the great day We will definatly recommend you to others.

What a great experience we had today at Hook-A-Barra. Thourraly enjoyed the farm tour and my son will carry the memories of catching 4 plate size Barramundi (2 kept) and a 81 cm Trophy Pond Barramundi for the rest of his life. Great staff, yummy food and a totally brilliant experience.

We did the tour and one of our group did the additional fishing experience, with success. From our initial experience ringing up to book, I spoke to a very helpful fella, who happened to be the same fella taking the tour! The tour was very informative and interesting, finishing with a decent sized serving of Barra served 3 ways with salad and fries. Absolutely delicious. The fisher in our group caught fish, including an 81cm one, so he was very happy. All staff there were very helpful and friendly. An experience to be recommended.

The best Barra and chips in FNQ is what the claim to have and i would have to agree .Lovely fresh Barra ,light batter and nice coleslaw on the side .Definitely worth the stopon your payback from Cape Tribulation.

We had a fabulous time here today.We booked the farm tour and lunch and it was worth the money.My hubby landed 6 barra, I only landed 2 but it was fun.We were taken into the sheds and got to see the immunisation of fingerlings and then saw tgem released into the pens. We had the whole ethos of the barra farm explained to us and came away with far more understanding of fishing than we had before.Our lunch mch was really fresh and tasty Barramundi three ways and was all deliscious.We really enjoyed our tour and the fishing.Glenn and Lisa

Hook-A-Barra had us caught hook, line and sinker from the minute we walked in.We saw this location as we were driving through the daintree and couldn’t resist a visit. We did the one hour fishing tour and it was amazing. My wife and I were shown the ropes and provided assistance throughout.Additionally, the food was fresh, tasty and cooked on the spot. We got batter fish and chips. However, if you are a fish lover, then check out their range of food options. Plenty to choose from!Would definitely recommend!!!

Great experience, it was really fun.Our Family (Hook-A-Barra x7).The little pond was really fun , I recommend it. We weren't so experience with fishing when we came here. But that changed when we left because of the two young assistants named Will and Aiden. They were really kind and experienced to help with the fishing. We booked from 9 to 10 in Winter (It was a mistakes) Therefore we had a privat session. The fish were not so active in cold water so we recommend booking later.But overall one of our best experience in Queensland.

Thanks to Leigh, Grace, Rob and the whole team at Hook a Barra. It was an epic experience for our family today. The lunch was fantastic with obviously fresh barra on the menu done three ways. Great to see fish farming done so ethically and sustainably- it’s easy to understand why they’re rated so well. The whole catch and release was really fun with fish welfare front of mind. The staff went out of the way to ensure that our children really enjoyed themselves. This is a must do activity for families!

We bought some snap frozen barra fillets. Boneless and skinless. Fried on high heat for a few minutes 😋. Very tasty and just like fresh fish.

We had a great time. Do the full tour, there is lots to learn about running an aquaculture farm in The Daintree. Caught some awesome size Barra. (Would have liked the full fishing hour in the top pond for more photo opportunities but it is school holidays and we understand that it is busy). The Barra tasting plate advertised with the full tour wasn't available but the fresh fried fillets were absolutely delicious ❤️Definitely recommend this tour 👍😁

We booked the ‘Farm & Fishing Combo’. Rob was our guide and he was very knowledgeable and friendly. We then feasted on Barra three ways - crumbed in a taco wrap, crispy skin grilled and fried with chips. And then the highlight of our time here was fishing the ‘barra’. Everyone caught big fish and a shout-out to Lincoln for his expert fishing advice.

What an awesome experience at Hook-A-Barra! The food was fantastic, the staff were so friendly, and the fishing was an absolute blast. I have to admit, I wasn't convinced about fishing at all, it's never really been my thing. My partner insisted we give it a go, and I'm so glad he did because I think I ended up having even more fun than he did! To top it off, I caught a bigger fish than him, which made the day even better. We'll definitely be back!

We did the farm tour experience, and it was one of the highlights of our trip.The behind-the-scenes tour was fascinating and gave us a real insight into how the farm operates. The fresh meal included afterwards was an absolute 10/10—delicious and a perfect way to finish the experience.A special mention to our guide, Gracie, who was sensational. She was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about what she does, making the tour both informative and fun for the whole family.What really set Hook-A-Barra apart, though, was the exceptional customer service. My daughter accidentally dropped her iPhone into the barramundi pond, and the staff went above and beyond to help. They even sent one of their young team members into the pond to retrieve it! Thanks to their incredible efforts, we left with one very relieved—and very happy—teenager.From start to finish, the entire team made us feel welcome and ensured we had an unforgettable experience. A fantastic outing for families, great food, wonderful people, and outstanding service. We would absolutely recommend Hook-A-Barra to anyone visiting Far North Queensland!

One of the best experiences in Nth Qld. We booked the farm tour and fishing package. The guide was extremely knowledgable about the farm operations and history of the area and delivered the information passionately. The fishing was great fun. You get plenty of help and all but guarenteed a catch. We hooked a few in an hour. The barra tasting dish is a lovely touch, and the food is brilliant. Easily the freshest and best fish and chips in Qld!! I highly recommend visiting Hook a Barra if youre in the area.

Had a great time at Hook-A-Barra. Helpful guides, who were happy to help my 5 year old son when he needed to help cast his fishing rod. Managed to catch 2 between my husband and 2 boys. One got away unfortunately. But an overall an enjoyable and fun experience!

We had an amazing time at Hook-A-Barra! The farm tour was really interesting and gave us a great insight into how barramundi are raised. My 9 year old loved it. What a great afternoon learning all about this incredible fish species! I was lucky enough to hook 3 decent size barramundi and release safely back into the water to continue their life journey. Thanks to the knowledgeable and patient crew at Hook-A-Barra for a really cool experience 😎. Highly recommend a visit for great family fun!

An awesome half day farm tour, fishing and lunch provided by the friendliest team imaginable.The team go out of their way to ensure you experience catching these majestic fish!The whole experience was personable and friendly and very informative but hey it’s all about catching a Barra and they go out of their way to do everything they can to see that happen.We caught at least 10 (wife and I) Barra round the 600-700mm range and had several hook ups in the trophy pond but spat the hooks when they jumped but hey that’s the challenge of catching big Barra!Recommend to bring your friends and family and have a great time catching the most iconic fish in Australia!!! 👍👍👍

Amazing experience! My husband and our 4.5 yo caught a barramundi each quite quickly! The staff was very helpful and done everything possible to make our experience enjoyable.We then had a mouth watering grilled barramundi with chips and salad, and a barra burger that was also delicious and cooked to perfection.I highly recommend Hook a Barra!

Great staff that are super friendly. Property is really cool with lots of little bara ponds to watch over. Can eat lunch here without paying for fishing and have great fish tacos. They are hopefully soon to get a liquor liscense too!

We stopped in on the way back from the Daintree without a booking and the Staff were super helpful and friendly! They helped with the kids and made sure we didnt leave without catching a few big fish! Absolutely fabulous experience. The food was delicious too ! Can't wait to be back

We had so much fun out at hook a Barra, got to catch some fish and taste it at the great little cafe and even got to take buy a fillet and take it home to cook up. Staff were great! If you love fishing, this is a great place to come !

We easily booked the fishing experience online and signed the waivers.As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the friendly Steve. We learnt a lot about barramundi in the first 10 mins of being there. This was an awesome experience to be given a lesson on casting a line, fishing in their trophy pond and then be lucky enough to be taken to another pond by the lovely Adam. He really made the fishing experience memorable and is such a genuine guy who loves his job. We all got to catch a barra and it has created the best memories for us as a family. I really recommend you stop in here while up nears Port Douglas and Cairns.

Steve and the crew helped me every step of the way, I thought I knew how to fish but I soon found there is a lot more to know when hooking a big Barra. I landed a few beauties and had a great day out, even got to take some fillets home for dinner. I would highly recommend to include this experience on your next FNQ visit.

We had the most incredible experience at Daintree Barramundi Farm — I truly cannot recommend this place enough!From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel so welcome. Matt was so friendly and cooked the most delicious barramundi for our family it was honestly one of the highlights of our trip.Johnny was fantastic, getting us all set up with rods and making the whole experience fun and easy. What really stood out was how patient and kind he was with my 4-year-old son while helping him unhook the barra he caught such a special moment for us.Gracie was absolutely amazing. As a mum with two young kids, I felt so comfortable and looked after. She went above and beyond, even taking my kids for a walk to the fish shack to see the tanks, which they loved. Her warmth and care really made the experience extra special.This is such a great experience for everyone whether you’re a solo traveller, a couple, or a family. Watching the barra being fed at the end was such a fun and memorable way to finish.We’ll definitely be back. Thank you for such a beautiful experience! 💛

Hubby and I have been twice now. This time, we booked for the farm tour, fishing & a tasting plate of barramundi and could not fault our morning. The farm tour was relaxed, but informative and a great insight to why this works! The Barra were biting and fighting and the tasting plates at the end of the day was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend. We’ll definitely be back!

We had the most incredible day at HookaBarra yesterday. From the moment we were picked up all of the staff were so fun and welcoming. Amazing farm tour, beautiful food, and the team made sure we left having a great fishing experience.

Great place to visit, staff were fantastic, highly recommend using the poppers in the big pond. I caught 3 barra in my fishing time. Definitely be back next time I holiday up north.
