Hook-a-Barra is perfect for functions and special occasions, we even do gift vouchers. Located at Wonga Beach near the Daintree, Hook-a-Barra is the recreational component of the Daintree Saltwater Barramundi Fish Farms. This large property boasts several, earthen fish ponds including the large, multispecies Hook-a-Barra pond which is stocked with over 1,500 Barramundi (including albinos) and Mangrove Jack. The Barramundi range from 1-12kg, 50cm to 1m.

All visitors to Hook-a-Barra can visit the undercover viewing tank, which features an array of albino and speckled albino Barramundi and Mangrove Jack. The property is accessible for people of all ages and abilities with toilets on site and a covered function area, making it perfect for birthdays, parties and functions.


Hook-a-Barra is the perfect function venue for anglers. Our pond is fully stocked and everything is provided, including tackle and bait, an extensive selection of lures, and guidance and tuition (if required) from knowledgeable staff. NB: For your safety and ours, there are no treble hooks allowed at Hook-A-Bara, we use single, barbless hooks only. Group rates available on request.

Hook-a-Barra loves to party! This is the ultimate venue for any angler’s birthday party, Hens / Bucks Parties or Christmas event.

The multispecies pond can accommodate large groups. It is catch and release fishing, or you can buy your fish to take away.Group rates and private functions available on request.

Prices start at $46 per person for one hour catch and release fishing, which includes all equipment, tackle and bait and instruction.

Hook-a-Barra is open from 9am to 5pm daily.  Fishing sessions run at 9am, 10.30am, 12.30pm, 2.00pm & 3.30pm.  Advance bookings are recommended – check availability and book now
